ANS Neuroscan™ Prototype
4-lead ECG-based, ANS Neuroscan research prototype.
Fundamentally, stress is controlled within the brain by the autonomic nervous system (ANS). The most common form of ANS testing is called heart rate variability (HRV). The ANS controls heart rate (pulse) and very subtle heart beat-to-beat variations at rest. Sophisticated software algorithms can reduce a 5-minute ECG tracing (about 350 beats) to accurately quantify ANS sympathetic (fight-or-flight) and parasympathetic (rest/restorative) components.
To conduct ANS stress research with HRV, Inmedix uses the ANS Neuroscan prototype use to train professional athletes. Currently, Inmedix engineers are repurposing and redesign this prototype into a tool specifically suited to the clinical setting. FDA 510(k) clearance and UK CE marking are anticipated by mid 2019.
